BEGUINAGE AND ITS MUSEUM

The beguinage area is picturesque with its small restored houses. At the beginning of the 18th century there were 300 beguines and about 100 houses. It is very pleasant to stroll through the cobbled streets. The church of St. Catherine dates back to 1294. Good sisters or lay people? Feminists or submissive? In the Beguina museum, housed in an authentic beguine house dating from 1660, you will find many answers. On the programme: the exhibition 'Treasures of the beguines' (Schatten van de begijnen), a short film, a beguinage beer, a shop and an aromatic garden.
