THE ROMAN TOWER NEPTUNE
A museum including a piece of ramparts and the Neptune tower named after its bas-relief in Arlon
In the 3rd century, our Gallo-Roman ancestors built a stone rampart around the Saint-Donat hill. Their aim: to protect themselves from Germanic invaders. This enormous rampart flanked by circular towers was some 870 meters long. The museum includes a section of the ramparts and the Neptune Tower, named after its bas-relief. Beneath this tower, you can see how funerary monuments were laid out to serve as the base of the ramparts. The Jupiter Tower can also be seen in the same enclosure.
