The oldest basilica on Walloon soil, located on the site of the old cemetery in Arlon
On the site of the old cemetery, next to a thermal bath dating from the 1st century, stood a basilica that became Christian in the5th and 6th centuries. It is the oldest on Walloon soil. Most of the remains of the spa were destroyed in 1906. You can still see the steam bath pool and parts of the vespasian baths. Between the 6th and 7th centuries, the Franks buried their princes here, along with some of the finest Merovingian jewelry on display in the Archaeological Museum. A spectacular ensemble!
