ROSE CASTLE
The castle was built in 1321, the patrol path and machicolations have been preserved, the garden, the labyrinth and the orchard invite you to take a stroll.
Château de Rosières is a fortified manor house built in the 15th century by the de Saine-Seine family, vassals of the Duke of Burgundy, who lived mainly in the village of Saint-Seine-sur-Vingeanne. At the height of the Hundred Years' War, the Duchy had sided with England, and found itself at war with the kingdom of France. It was during this troubled period that Rosières castle was built. It was for this reason that thick walls and machicolations were added to the main building, to guard against any French attack. Still in a very good state of preservation, the château reveals the defensive systems typical of the 15th century, at a time when artillery was beginning to be democratized. But more than just a defensive structure, the building was designed for year-round living. It was equipped with beautiful rooms with fireplaces and, in some cases, latrines. These rooms, highlighted by beautiful tiled floors and French-style ceilings with exposed joists, are precisely those that have now become guest rooms.
The tour takes you on a journey back in time. This takes you back to the Middle Ages, but also to the century of Louis XIV, as the château boasts a beautiful Classical-style gallery, which still features its original murals. The climb up the spiral staircase is also a delight for landscape lovers, as it takes you to the chemin de ronde, where the Jura massif can be admired in fine weather.

Un accueil chaleureux. Nous avions pris l'appartement, bien équipé. Les lits sont confortables et le petit-déjeuner parfait.
Nous avons fait un escape game qui a passionné petits et grands. Une expérience que nous renouvellerons.
