GRASSUMONT CASTLE
An imposing tower of gray stones, a castle in Herbeumont whose visit allows to admire magnificent points of view
An imposing grey stone tower dominates the village of Herbeumont, those of the old castle, planted on a rocky spur that overlooks the Semois River by 110 metres. Its first part was built in the 8th century by Jehan de Rochefort, contemporary to the objects discovered on the site. The other construction dates back to 1268. But the castle was destroyed in 1657 by the troops of Louis XIV. For a long time neglected, then closed to the public because of the danger of landslides, the castle was restored in several stages. Its visit allows you to admire magnificent viewpoints.
