This imposing property includes the grand château, which houses several museums that can be visited.
Château de Savigny is an authentic medieval chateau built in 1340 for Duke Eudes by Jean de Frolois, Marshal of Burgundy, but which has continued to introduce life and modernity over the centuries. This imposing property includes the grand château, which houses several museums that can be visited, upstairs reception rooms and magnificent 14th- and 17th-century cellars. Next door, the small château, once used as a stable, welcomes visitors to taste and purchase the estate's wines. The Château is also a museum. No fewer than 10 exceptional collections, passionately assembled by Michel Pont, are open to the public. Discover the room containing 36 Abarths, all in raceworthy condition. There's an area devoted to 40 winegrower tractors, another to 25 fire engines, a collection of 200 motorcycles, not to mention winegrowing and winemaking tools and 4,000 model airplanes, cars and motorcycles. The aerospace exhibition, featuring numerous model rockets and a satellite, is a great success for its trendy theme. Upstairs, 3 lounges are available for hire, accommodating up to 300 people for private or business functions. On the first floor, another large salon can be privatized for receptions, tastings and exhibitions. The 11-hectare park is ideal for outdoor receptions, and features a spectacular exhibition of 90 aircraft. The château welcomes 40,000 visitors a year: a remarkable success, given that these collections are privately owned. Unique and unusual!
It's also a wine estate. A château worthy of the name could not be what it is without a valuable wine estate, a 15-hectare vineyard comprising 9 Premiers Crus. The estate's appellations include Beaune, Meursault, Pommard, Monthelie, Auxey-Duresses and Volnay. Magnificent 14th- and 17th-century cellars stretch beneath the château. Tastings and the boutique are freely accessible independently of the tour. Michel Pont, a passionate owner of the collections, passed away in September 2021, and his son Christophe and granddaughter Marie are continuing the titanic work of offering visitors a wonderful time at Château de Savigny. In fine weather, wine tasting begins on the terrace... A visit not to be missed.
