On the heights of Bouge, the Bonhomme Hiver is burned. Spectacular and overhanging the Meuse, it can be seen from very far
On the1st Sunday of Lent, on the heights of Bouge, we traditionally proceed to the burning of the Winter Man. This day is called the "Sunday of the brandons". In the Namur region, a popular saying states: "Au Grand Feu, les sizes au feu". The sizes are the wakes that one practiced the winter come. The pyre is made of faggots and straw collected from the inhabitants of the village. The site of the Grand Feu overlooks the town and the Meuse valley, and can be seen from afar. But thousands of people prefer to experience the event up close.
