Citadel of Dinant with many gardens outside, with a museum of weapons inside, faithful reconstructions

At 408 steps above the Meuse valley, the Citadel of Dinant was built in 1051 by the prince-bishop of Liège, but its current appearance dates from the 19th century. Accessible on foot, but also by cable car for the less athletic. Unavoidable, it can be visited from the outside by its numerous gardens and from the inside with its museum of weapons, its faithful reconstitutions and its space dedicated to the fights of August 1914. From the top, the view over the city is breathtaking. Interesting "3 in 1" formula: visit + cable car + boat trip.

visitée en octobre 2016; les personnages factices représentant des scènes d'antan sont bien réalisés; impressionnant de voir les anciennes cellules; la reconstitution ds tranchées de la guerre 14/18 est impressionnante ainsi que la réalisation d'une pièce de vie qui aurait subi un tir d'obus..à voir absolument même si le prix n'est pas donné....

Sympa à visiter, la vue est belle. Prendre le funiculaire est syma. Des visites organisées sont proposées. Ma salle preferée est celle simulant une salle detruite par un obus, la alle se retrouve penchée à 45°, ce n'est pas facile d'y marcher on à l'impression d'avoir bu un verre de trop mais très chouette.

If you are able to visit Dining weather, the citadel is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon: visit in the citadel and statues Disney sand. To get up there, two possibilities: or the cable car!

We arrived in top drive and children can play small park, while we drink our small coffee, then guided tour (included) very interesting (even for children), the funicular, not waiting, the view of is magnificent, the only downside: the staff at the small shop not very friendly, unlike the snack bar next to the small park! In short cumulated with a boat snuffs it is a very good day!
