COMMANDO MUSEUM
Museum of the Commandos in Flawinne, with various pieces, souvenirs, vehicles, weapons, and equipment
In 1937, the Sub-Lieutenant Thibaut barracks was built on the heights of Flawinne. The2nd Commando Battalion has occupied the barracks since 1961. A museum was created in 1980. Modest at the beginning, its collections are more and more numerous. It occupies about twenty rooms and benefits from new donations. The pieces are varied: souvenirs, vehicles, weapons, equipment .... A discreet museum, it is worthy of interest to learn about the evolution of the commandos in Belgium. Ten paratroopers of the2nd Battalion were murdered in Kigali on 7 April 1994.
