FLOREFFE ABBEY
Abbey church of Florelle with beautiful baroque stalls, a brewery-mill and rooms with thematic exhibitions
Founded in 1121 by Saint Norbert, the monastery overlooks the Sambre. A remarkable architectural ensemble, it has been occupied by a college since 1819. The construction of the abbey extends from the 12th to the 18th century. The abbey church, a majestic vessel, has superb baroque stalls. The brewery-mill is the oldest surviving industrial building in the Namur region. The rooms of the abbey farm host thematic exhibitions or craftsmen at work. Esperanzah, a festival of world music, has been making a splash for many years.
