ABBEY CHURCH
Saint-Pierre abbey church with a massive and imposing Romanesque tower, with a permanent lapidary exhibition
Built in 1033 by Irish monks, the abbey church of Saint-Pierre, surrounded by a garden along the Meuse, is full of charm. Its massive and imposing Romanesque tower, its sober architecture, its nave with square pillars supporting round arches, its transept and its crypt form a majestic and harmonious whole. The choir is Gothic (1264). Inside, a permanent lapidary exhibition reveals the discoveries made around the building. The stalls and their misericords are among the oldest in Belgium.
