CASTLE OF LAVAUX-SAINTE-ANNE
Castle of Lavaux-Sainte-Anne, one of the most famous in the Ardennes, with a farmyard, housing museums on agricultural life
One of the most famous castles in the Ardennes is well worth the trip. Preceded by a large farmyard, the 15th century fortress has retained its compact volume, whose stone walls are reflected in the wide moat. Three towers and a large circular keep frame the residential buildings. Their baroque roofs mark the silhouette of the castle, whose delicate Renaissance courtyard appears on only one side. The castle houses three museums on agricultural life, seigneurial life in the 17th and 18th centuries and old trades.
