SAINT-JACQUES CHURCH
The Saint-Jacques church of classical style, replacing a wooden chapel, located on the way to Compostela in Namur.
Desecrated, the Saint-Jacques church is an 18th century building in the classical style. It replaces a 13th century wooden chapel. Located on the road to Compostela, the church was next to a hospital for foreign soldiers thanks to its location outside the primary city walls. The Brothers of Mercy took over the management of the hospital in 1755, they were in charge of those condemned to death. The hospital became a civil hospice after the French Revolution. The interior is decorated with stucco. The building is currently for sale.
