FERNELMONT CASTLE
Castle with an interior, with a staircase within the wall, fireplaces, latrines, and a walled bailey
Around 1269, Godescale de Noville wanted to make it a fortified house. Transformed into a castle-farm in the 16th century, it reflects the style of the time: a mixture of brick and blue stone, rubble stones and corbelled turrets. Its 13th century keep-porch and its residential tower make it a building of the first importance. Its bailey is surrounded by walls. Inside, the intramural staircase, the fireplaces, the latrines and the washbasins are all examples of 13th century interior fittings. Listed in 1934, the castle has no furniture.
