While VTC companies such as Uber and Heetch are present in Ghent, the good old-fashioned cabs that handle metered journeys are still active. You'll find cab ranks at Sint-Pieters station, Dampoort station, near Korenmarkt and at Woodrow Wilsonplein. But be sure to book in advance, as cabs take a long time to come, and are often in high demand, so it's not uncommon to wait 15 or 20 minutes for one to arrive. Hotel receptions are used to this and can take care of it for you.
