L'AUBERGE DU LAC
Restaurant in a magnificent setting overlooking the lake offering local products.
It may sound like a "chestnut" - a piece of information that recurs at the same time every year, like the start of the new school year for example - but it's important to remember: local produce has taste. The chef at this inn on the banks of Lake Kruth Wildenstein knows this well, and wants his customers to benefit from his traditional Alsatian cuisine. The pâté en croûte and homemade fleischnakas are truly distinctive and tasty. The cured ham and crudités served all day long in the brasserie formula are remarkable for their taste quality. Tourist menus are reasonably priced. All in a magnificent setting overlooking the lake. Try the sautéed veal Marengo, a real treat. A gourmet novelty worth trying is the presa de cochon. It's the story of a black Iberian pig, a marbled meat cut into thin slices then grilled and served on a wooden board in a very original way. It's served with a vegetable jardinière, French fries and garlic butter. Those wishing to spend the night can rent a bed and breakfast for a very reasonable price (€45 for a single or €65 for a couple, breakfast included).
