BOURBILLY CASTLE
Nestled in the heart of the Serein valley, the Château de Bourbilly is a true treasure of the region's history. Formerly a stronghold built at the early 13th century, it was only sold 4 times during 900 years. Successively a fortified castle and then a medieval citadel, it was once the property of the Rabutin family and Madam de Sévigné. Disassembled after the revolution, it was restored in its actual state in 1860 by the Erard family, inventors of the Piano-forte. It was inhabited and furnished since then by De Crepy family, descendants of the well-known Henri Darcy family in Dijon. Located in the middle of a beautiful park drawn by Alphand, the castle is open for visit in summer. The visit immerses you in the room of the guards, the library with 6,000 books, the kitchen or the lounge with the magnificent chandeliers collection made with Murano glass. All the rooms enjoy old furnishing and decoration. The chapel is contemporary as it was rebuilt after a fire. Baroness Édouard de Crepy opens her Castle readily to share the history of this heritage she has the chance to transmit and of which she is the depository.
