THE MONT LASSOIS AND THE CHURCH OF SAINT-MARCEL
Mount Lassois and the church of Saint-Martial, an ideal strategic location occupied by Vix's inhabitants since Neolithic times.
Comprising Mont Lassois and Mont Roussillon, this hillock dominates the Seine plain and the Châtillonnais region. An ideal strategic location, it has been occupied by man since Neolithic times. It was at the foot of Mont Lassois, in January 1953, that the tomb of the Princess of Vix and her riches, including the famous bronze crater, were unearthed. You can walk to the summit to visit the archaeological site in augmented reality. Also worth a visit is the 12th-century church of Saint-Marcel.
