The wild donkey sanctuary covers a large part of the Little Rann of Kutch, a huge desert plain of dried mud, which turns into a giant lake during the monsoon. Winter (October to March) is an ideal time for bird watching. Besides donkeys, the park is home to foxes and, even rarer to observe, hyenas. On weekends, families come from Ahmedabad, which is only 2.5 hours away. If you can, come during the week, you will have the Little Rann all to yourself... or almost.
