OLD GOVERNMENT HOUSE
This house in Parramatta Park was home to the colony's first 10 governors for seven decades
In Parramatta Park, the Old Government House is the oldest public building in Australia. It is one of the 11 historic sites that make up the Australia Convict Sites World Heritage Site, listed by UNESCO. For seven decades it was the residence of the first 10 governors of the colony. The current appearance of the house is largely due to the time of Governor Macquarie. The furniture in the rooms comes from the National Trust collection, the largest collection of colonial furniture in Australia.
