POTTERY VILLAGES OF PHU LANG
Phu Lang's specialization (the site brings together several contiguous villages) in the ceramics is very old. Tessons dating from the Trân dynasty (xivth century) were discovered on the site. Phu Lang was renowned for the quality of its products, characterized by a clear brown enamel, even though - unlike Bat Trang's production in Gia Lâm district - they have never penetrated the export market to other Asian countries. Today, many Phu Lang potters are specialized in the production of funeral ures or other common objects. Others have taken an artistic approach.
The walk to Phu Lang, along the Câu River, allows you to discover the entire manufacturing process: preparation of glue, filming, drying, coatings, cooking… Gas now replaces wood for furnaces. The village is characterized by its specialization with bricks and ceramic residues.
