VÂN LONG NATURE RESERVE
A reserve dotted with limestone peaks, home to many rare birds, as well as a population of particularly endangered monkeys.
Vân Long means "the dragon in the clouds". The reserve covers a vast flooded area (3,500 ha) dotted with limestone peaks. As at Tam Côc (but the magnificent site has the advantage of being much less crowded), the visit (allow 2 hours) is made by boat, to the rhythm of the oarswomen. The ride is superb, especially in the early hours of the morning. The reserve is home to a number of rare birds, as well as a population of particularly endangered monkeys (Delacour's Langur).
