BICH DÔNG PAGODA
Founded in 1428, the superb Bich Dông pagoda, set on a mountainside, was used as a backdrop for certain scenes in the film Indochine.
The Bich Dông pagoda, or Jade pagoda, is located on the slopes of Ngu Nhac mountain. It was founded in 1428 by the later Lê dynasty. The entrance is sublime, set amidst bodies of water filled with lotus flowers. The sanctuary comprises three pavilions on different levels, one of which, dating from the 18thcentury , is located in a grotto. The sanctuary on the top level is dedicated to the goddess of mercy Quan Âm (Guanyin). This sumptuous site served as the backdrop for certain scenes in Régis Wargnier's film Indochine.
