In Hebrew, this cemetery means "House of Life": in 1999, it was studied by a team of volunteers, and some of the inscriptions and drawings were finally deciphered. The Jodensavanne cemetery is of exceptional size: it covers an area of some 6,600m2 and contains at least 462 tombs, most of them in marble imported from Europe. Other tombs are made of brick, or beautifully decorated: a historic journey through time.
