THE "MOUNTAIN OF THE FRENCH"
Go there and contact
The nickname given to this ridge comes from the monument to the dead of the Malagasy and the French, who perished many; it commemorates the battle of 1942 for the liberation of Antsiranana by allied armies. One looks at the ruins of the fortifications, dating from the beginning of the th century.
From Diego, take the road that leads to Back, then by touching the cross road at km 7 towards the fort of Nosy Ravo (summit). The walk (approximately 3 h of loop) is magnificent: baobabs, épineux, aloe, birds and lizards surround you. At the top, the magnificent panorama opens onto the bay of Antsiranana and the surrounding countryside.
In 2014, a entrée and toilets should be built. The entry fee would be 10 000 Ar per person.
