Tables set on elegant balconies overlooking the Nicoya Valley and tasty products that do not go further than what you can see on the horizon. This is how we could describe this splendid restaurant based on the concept of the farm to table. The chef, José Pablo Gonzalez, composes his dishes using organic and local ingredients from Finca Madre. Here, you will only find simple and balanced cuisine, all in finesse and prepared to measure. Inspired by Costa Rica, the chef revisits typical dishes while adding a small dose of creativity. We recommend the costilla de credo in Tamarindo salsa or the octopus in parilla; the wines and desserts are also very good.

Can I give it 10 stars? This was an amazing hotel, in a great location, with a fabulous owner. All of the staff were very happy to work here and always spoke highly of the owners. The place is worth it. BOOK IT. I am real. This is not a fake review. The food is fresh, The tours were all good as well. Horseback riding at Madre Tierra at sunset was great as well. All of the staff, The free yoga with Kelsey and the mountain view rooms. WOW. So good. Book this hotel and stay here all month. You won't be dissapointed.

Scam. Booked 3 nights months in advance the hotel refused to change the dates of arrival & departure by 1 day despite availability. Hotel wants money for 3 more nights even though the new stay overlaps by 2 nights.

The Hotel Belmar experience is incredible from start to finish! Great location on the road to the cloud forest entrance, we were welcomed with warm towels and iced tea at check in! We stayed in the Belmar room and the view was incredible, with a private jacuzzi and balcony to enjoy. Drinks in the fridge are stocked and the first batch is complimentary so you can try their locally brewed beer as well as tea. Coffee is provided and can be brewed in the classic method of the locals. Finally, free yoga sessions by the pond in the morning are an amazing way to start your day. Will definitely be back here!

We stayed at Belmar in June 2023 and it was an incredible experience. It is surprising that the hotel is listed as a 3 star - it seemed like a 4 or 5 star hotel to us. We felt very welcomed upon check in and enjoyed the views. Our rooms were very clean, smelt wonderful, and felt like a spa. Every evening we had something special to take home in our room at turn down service. They also had a fridge stocked with various local beverages and a traditional Costa Rican coffee maker "Chorreador" that was fun to use. We were not in the main building but liked having the smoothie shop and gift store in our building. We purchased many of the soaps because they were made locally and smelt great. We ate almost all our meals at the restaurant Celajes (breakfast was included), and each dish was so, so delicious. You can't go wrong with any of their food and it is convenient and locally sourced so you will feel like you don't need to go anywhere else. We enjoyed the pool, beer garden, and the other sights around the grounds. The staff were super accommodating and patient with anything we needed - within our rooms, coordinating tours and travel, purchasing gifts, teaching me some Spanish, and helping us navigate the nearby town of Santa Elena (which you can walk to ~20-30 minutes walk).

The only downsides we found is the very bumpy road to get up to the hotel (that is shared with many other residents) and it seemed like we were always last to be picked up and last to be dropped off on tours (not the hotels fault).

There are a lot of options in Monteverde but this is one hotel you don't want to miss!

Hotel Belmar was incredible from the beginning to the end! My partner and I cannot recommend it enough and when we return to Monteverde we will certainly stay at Hotel Belmar again. The staff at Hotel Belmar are genuine and lovely people. They, along with the beautiful room and view, made our visit unforgettable. The staff were also able to help put together a birthday surprise for my partner on the day we arrived - very well coordinated. Guillermo, Pablo, Diego, and Hazel were some of the familiar and friendly faces that we interacted with on a daily basis during our stay, but everyone we encountered at Hotel Belmar was truly wonderful. Not to mention the rooms and hotel grounds are gorgeous and the views are breathtaking (we could see the Nicoya Peninsula (Pacific Ocean) from our room's balcony!). A huge plus is that the hotel is so conscientious of the surrounding environment. Food was also exceptional! 5-star hotel in our books!
