RESERVA BIOLÓGICA BOSQUE NUBOSO MONTEVERDE
Reserve allowing to walk from 1 hour to a day and recommends the crossing of the suspension bridge and the viewpoint in Monteverde
To visit this reserve, the map that will be given to you at the entrance is very useful. You can walk from 1 hour to one day in the reserve. We advise you to cross the suspension bridge and the mirador which dominates a pretty part of the forest. You will often have your head in the clouds, so it is not sure that you will have the possibility to enjoy the panorama around. Only a maximum of 250 visitors are allowed on the trails (not by the day), who often arrive at the same time, between 8 and 10 a.m. Although it is not possible to reserve a place in advance, you can book a guided tour. Between May and December, because of the humidity, you should bring clothes to change into after the tour, or at least a raincoat, sweater and socks. During the visit to the reserve, you may have the chance to see all kinds of animals such as the quetzal (especially visible from March to April), emblem of the region, which does not tolerate captivity. This bird nests in the highest and oldest trees of the high altitude tropical forests. The quetzal couple is a perfect example of the sharing of tasks within the family, the female brooding at night, the male (with green tail) taking over during the day. To observe these birds, it is better to be accompanied by a guide whose eyes and ears are more experienced than yours and who will be able to catch the furtive quivering in the branches or in the abundant ferns.
