In 2003, Cristina and Álvaro, young Salvadoran entrepreneurs with a love of nature and the arts, set up Axul Ataco (and since 2016 Axul Apaneca) to sell exclusive, custom-designed local handicrafts at fair prices. There's plenty of choice for souvenirs, admittedly a little pricier than those you'll find on the street, but with very cool design and a fair mindset. The façade features a beautiful fresco of colorful felines.
