VOLCÁN IZALCO
The last eruption of this beautiful young Izalco volcano, which appeared in 1770 in the Parque Nacional De Los Volcanos, was in 1966.
The beautiful Izalco volcano is very young. It first appeared in 1770 and last erupted in 1966. It is possible to climb the volcano with a guide, but please note that there is only one ascent per day. Departure is at 11 a.m. from the national park entrance. The climb is more difficult than the neighbouring Santa Ana: allow 5 hours round trip and a few technical passages. But there are far fewer visitors and, once at the summit, you'll be able to explore the crater more than on Santa Ana. A good choice for more adventurous travellers.
