The Cerro Verde volcano is a national park in its own right, a beautiful, well-maintained park offering grandiose views (get your photos taken!) of the Izalco volcano from its 2,035-metre altitude. It offers interesting hiking opportunities. The air is fresh and the mountain vegetation is made up of shrubs, azaleas, flowers, high-altitude cacti and more. It's best to do this tour in the morning, as the weather changes quickly and if the sky is overcast... goodbye volcanoes!
