DE BIESBOSCH
The largest expanse of fresh water in Europe, influenced by the tides, a rather unique place to discover nature
The Biesbosch National Park is Europe's largest tidally influenced expanse of freshwater. The city of Dordrecht is its main gateway. It's a great place to visit if you're in the area. It was officially created in 1994 and covers an area of 40,000 hectares. The flora and fauna are varied. The park can be visited by solar boat, and the nature interpretation center with its sedum-covered "green" roof is well worth a visit. A unique place to discover nature in the Netherlands.
