GULF HAGAS RIM TRAIL
A 12 mile long trail with a wilderness feel and a challenging route with a rocky and very slippery section
The trail that follows the Gulf Hagas Gorge joins the Appalachian Trail only partially. The rest is managed by the national park. Be sure to check out the trail before you go on it. This is a challenging route, requiring good equipment and experience. This part of the Appalachian Trail is called the Hundred-Mile Wilderness because of its wilderness aspect. One section in particular is rocky and very slippery. This 12 mile long trail is said to be harder than the usual trails of the Appalachian Trail.
