Rogers House. This small house, built in 1809-1810 by the colon Reuben Rogers, is a fine example of the architecture of rural areas in the southern United States. The rear part was probably added around 1820, while 18 people were already living there. Subsequently, the house known as 17 successive owners. It was restored in 1992 using archival photographs dated 1873. The furniture presented is the one found in the region in the th century.
Rose Cottage. This cottage was the property of Adeline Rose, a paid slave, who built it in 1891. At that time, Adeline Rose earned his life as a lingère. In particular, she was employed by the residents of Hardy House, who was owned by the mother of the famous actor Oliver Hardy. Adeline Rose died in 1959 after having lived here for 68 years. In 1966, the city of Madison moved Rose Cottage to its current location to create with Rogers House a lot of traditional houses open to the visit.
