This former cotton plantation was created in 1895 by William Alfred «Will» Dockery (1865-1936). It was one of the largest in the delta region. A black community gathering centre at the beginning of the century, it is considered the birthplace of the blues. The legendary Charlie Patton (1891-1934), Thommy Johnson (1896-1956) and Howlin'Wolf (1910-1976) worked there before they became bluesmen. Inexploité since 1982, the site is now being maintained by the Dockery Farms Foundation. Located on the road, you can see the main farm, a barn, the service station and a nearby chapel.
