TENNESSEE WILLIAMS HOME & WELCOME CENTER
The Tennessee Williams Home & Welcome Center is a must-see in Columbus, Mississippi. This historic home was once the rectory of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where Tennessee Williams' grandfather, the Reverend Walter Dakin, served. In 1993, the house was threatened with demolition to make way for church expansion. In order to preserve this historic and literary monument, the house was loaded onto flatbed trucks and transported to its new location on Main Street. The Tennessee Williams Home & Welcome Center offers guided tours of this historic home. In addition to a tour of the Tennessee Williams home, visitors can also take advantage of the gift store, tourist information brochures and free coffee. The center also has coach parking and public toilets.
