WEIDMANN'S RESTAURANT
Le's was founded in 1870 by Felix Weidmann, a Swiss immigrant. It's the oldest restaurant in the city, and probably one of the best. Dishes are specialities from the South and relate to meat as well as fish, seafood, pasta or salads. Each table is prepared with a jar of homemade peanut butter (the pot, not butter) and an assortment of cookies. This tradition of one of Weidmann's sons dates back to the 1940 s, when legend tells us that there would be a shortage of butter due to the Second World War. The potter was first found in Louiseville, Mississippi, before the establishment appealed to a local craftsman.
