This musical ride was performed by Gustav Dentzel Cie of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It dates back to 1896 and was built for the 1904 universal exhibition of Saint Louis, Missouri, before being sold to Meridian and installed in Highland Park in 1909. It is a unique model of Dentzel which has two fixed rows representing a menagerie. The 28 animals that make it up are in carefully carved wood. Seven original oil paintings adorn the top crown of the manège. The Musical Ride and its building have been classified in national monuments since 1987.
