WALTER ANDERSON MUSEUM OF ART
The Walter Anderson Museum of Art (WAMA) has been open since 1991. This museum is dedicated mainly to the works of Walter Inglis Anderson (1903-1965), but also to those of his two brothers, Peter (1901-1984), a potter master and founder of Shearwater Pottery, and James McConnell Anderson (1907-1998), a recognized painter and painter. The watercolours, drawings, oils, wood engravings, ceramics and sculptures of the three brothers are presented in the permanent collection of the museum. Temporary exhibitions of other artists are organised throughout the year in the adjoining rooms. The large room with ornate walls representing the four seasons and gods of mythology gives an idea of Walter Anderson's talent. This work of inestimable amount today was realized for 1 symbolic dollar that versa the city to the artist.
