NEW YORK STATE MUSEUM
The New York State Museum focuses on the history of the country and in particular the state at large. There are many varied exhibitions to discover: from Shaker art and culture to the exhibition on the disappearance of the passenger pigeon, a migratory bird that inhabited the region at the beginning of the 19th century. For children: the carousel, built in the 1910s by a company based in North Tonawanda, is accessible free of charge from 10am to 4.30pm. Of particular note is the moving and fascinating permanent exhibition on September 11, 2001. Pieces of the World Trade Center tower, a fire truck on site, plane remains: a visit not to be missed.
