THE LAGOON BASSA DE LES OLLES
A lagoon connected to the sea that blossoms among poetic rice fields and the preserved dunes of the Fangar Bay in L'Ampolla
Connected to the sea, the Bassa de les Olles lagoon blossoms among the poetic rice fields and the preserved dunes of the Fangar Bay. Its 54 hectares, which make it the smallest lagoon in the Delta, are home to one of the most diverse bird faunas in the Delta Natural Park, which thrives in a specific environment, between fresh and salt water, conducive to the proliferation of multiple plant and animal species. In summer, one can observe nesting species such as the pink flamingo, the purple heron, the hairy crake, the juvenile blongios, the luscinioid locustelle, the tern, the mallard duck or the laughing gull. In winter, hibernating and migratory species dominate, such as the majestic marsh harrier, the amusing great crested grebe, the grey heron, the kingfisher, the marsh snipe with its New Zealand kiwi appearance, the herring gull or the coot with its black coat. The wooden footbridges that go around the lagoon and the three observatories allow you to fully enjoy the site. Information point at the beginning of the itinerary (services on site: agroboutique, bar, bike, paddle and kayak rental, guided tours, picnic area).
From the Bassa de les Olles lagoon parking lot, you can walk or bike to the "Birds and Rice" route, which goes around part of the lagoon to Goleró. Count 4 km round trip.

Le passage en bord de mer en septembre nous a permis de voir de nombreux crabes et poissons du delta, ainsi que les pêcheurs qui les traquent :-)
