STATE OF MISSISSIPPI WELCOME CENTER
The reception station Delma Furniss, which also serves as Welcome Center, is located on the Higwhay 61, at the intersection of the US 49 towards Helena West (Arkansas). She was named after Senator Furniss who helped her creation. It was opened in September 2004, after an archaeological excavation of two years on a particularly prolific site in discovery of Amerindian objects. The centre presents a film about its history and excavations during which more than 10 000 artifacts dating back several thousand years and two different periods of time were found.
