Opened on January1, 2014, the Black Forest National Park is one of Germany's newest national parks. It seemed only natural that Germany's most famous mountain range should achieve this protected status. The park covers an area of 10,062 hectares. It also boasts some magnificent mountain lakes: Karseen Wildsee, Huzenbacher See and Buhlbachsee. Numerous hiking trails provide access to this magnificent protected forest environment.
