FESTIVITÉS DE LA SAINTE-DÉVOTE
The traditional tribute to Saint Devote, the patron saint of Monaco, where the whole Principality is in celebration for two days!
Every year, the Principality celebrates its patron saint, Saint Devote, whose martyred body was placed in a boat and sailed from Corsica before being stranded in Monaco. Great protector of the Monegasque people, Saint Devote is celebrated on January 26th, when a boat is set ablaze by the Sovereign and the Princely Family. A firework display is then fired from the port. January 27 is a public holiday and the cathedral hosts a Papal mass.
