FÊTE NATIONALE DU PRINCE

It takes place every 19 November. Established by Prince Charles III in 1857, Monaco's national feast corresponded to the date of the feast of the patron saint of the Sovereign Prince, thus varying the dates in the course of history. But upon his accession to the throne in 2005, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II decided to maintain the date of 19 November, day of Saint Rainier in memory of His Father. On that day, the city is decorated with the red and white colours of the country and the flags bloom on the windows. This celebration is a moment of great celebration for the inhabitants of the Principality, who mark their attachment to the Prince and His Family. The day begins with a Te Deum in the Cathedral on the Rock. Then, back to the Palace, the Prince Sovereign presents to the Court of honour the decorations to the military forces and from a balcony of the Palace to a parade of Public Force and Public Security troops who make him honour.
