MOUNT ASSINIBOINE PROVINCIAL PARK
Mount Assiniboine Park is a magnificent place with sparkling lakes, glistening glaciers, soaring peaks and sun-drenched alpine meadows. The world-famous Mount Assiniboine, located along the Continental Divide near the park's southeast corner, has embodied the splendor of the Canadian Rockies for over 100 years. No roads penetrate this unspoiled wilderness, only trails provide access. Camping, hiking, mountain climbing and viewing spectacular mountain scenery are the main activities here, as well as fishing, horseback riding and cross-country skiing. Magog Lake and Og Lake, the main areas of the park, are extremely popular camping destinations. Mount Assiniboine National Park is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is open year-round to the public, but it's important to check notices before visiting.
