inaugurated in 1977, Lilongwe airport is located 25 km north of the city. Completely renovated in 2019 by the Japan International Cooperation Agency in partnership with the Malawi government, it is now air-conditioned. Three souvenir and duty-free stores. It serves Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, Johannesburg in South Africa, Nairobi in Kenya, Harare in Zimbabwe, Lusaka in Zambia, Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Nampula in Mozambique. Two daily flights to Blantyre.
