STATION THERMALE D’ARSHAN
Arshan, which means "hot spring", is located at an altitude of 900 m, on the banks of a very fast river that never freezes, the Kyngarga. The latter, whose bed is stony (part of it made of marble), makes a sound reminiscent of the drum (kyngarga means "shaman's drum"). It has many beautiful waterfalls. Along the Kyngarga River flow mineral springs, one of which, revered by the Buryates, cures eye diseases. It is located on the territory of the Arshan station, near the bathhouse. Thousands of ribbons are hung on the trees. In addition, mineral water, studied at the end of the 19th century, treats and relieves the symptoms of digestive diseases, dermatological and nervous pathologies.
The village of Arshan has several sanatoriums and hotels where Russians like to be in the countryside. There is a market, small restaurants (where green tea with milk is served), a bank and a supermarket. 2 km from the centre (20 minutes on foot, the walk is pleasant), in a serene green clearing, there is the datsan Khoymorsky Bodkhidkharma and its two stupas. The landscape is spectacular here, surrounded by mountains (in winter, with snow, the place is adorned with another atmosphere). A llama is predicting the future by a few bucks. There is a shop at the entrance, from where you can bring back souvenirs. Also, you won't be alone in the area....
