This fortress would be the ancient sake city of Gamen and would have been erected, by immeasurable efforts, between the Third and the Century before our age. Since the stones used for its manufacture are not in Wakhan, it is indeed assumed that they have been brought further, giving an idea of the extent of the work carried out. The outer walls reached 17 meters in height for 2 meters wide and were kept by forty rounds. If you think it's the time that made the remaining towers tilt, you're wrong, they've been erected so voluntarily, to give defenders the sufficient visibility on the precipice below, by where the enemies were likely to attack. The view from the walls is breathtaking, overlooking the Wakhan Corridor and the Pyanj Valley, and gives the measure of the strategic importance of such a citadel. The walls marvel at the shape of the rocky spur on which they are built, by layers of flat stone. Some of the fortified walls and the towers are well preserved and still give a feeling of power, but beware by walking. These old stones are far from stable and secure.
