A family and historical residence, eleven centuries of history are revealed behind the somewhat medieval lines of this fortress overlooking the town of Châtillon-en-Bazois. Built on a rocky outcrop in the loop of the river Aron, lined today by the Nivernais canal, the site is astonishing by its position. The English-style park, designed by Paul de Lavenne de Choulot in 1830, overlooks the city and offers an exceptional view of the gardens located below, along the canal. A tunnel under the road leads to this former vegetable garden: here, the small French garden, the orangery garden and the pond garden, designed by Madame Moreau-Sribny, are located near the water mirrors in which the sky is reflected. The park, its garden and its water mirrors, classified and labeled "Remarkable Garden", are a haven of serenity to escape the tumult of modern life. The castle can be visited during the European Heritage Days. You will discover the period kitchen with its pottery and rotisserie, the music room, the smoking room with its collection of cigars from Havana, the hunting room and the Italian-style dining room with its superb Murano crystal chandelier. Prestigious works of art and period furniture (13th-15th centuries) adorn the rooms of the castle. From this authentic residence, you can rent one of the 5 guest rooms. The heated swimming pool is the icing on the cake!
