Imposing Georgian manor house dating from 1880 with 32 rooms, cellar with approx. 7 rooms, majestic entrance hall, etc.
This imposing Georgian manor house - with an Italian influence - dating from 1880, was used in part as the interior set for Peter Weir's film Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), adapted from the famous novel by Joan Lindsay. It was built by Edmond Bowman, a cattle rancher, who squandered his fortune. It has about 32 rooms and a large cellar of about 7 rooms. Majestic entrance hall under a glass dome, wooden staircase of amourette which doubles to lead to the upper galleries, period furniture and imposing billiard table in Mintaro slate.
